It’s great to hear from you! I really have to thank you because Chief has been such a blessing, he is truly my best friend. I just recently had a house warming party with my friends and neighbors and they were so impressed by how receptive and smart he is - they couldn’t believe that he was only 5 months old. He’s grown so much, it’s insane. Everyone is so surprised by how well mannered and obedient he is that people are begging to babysit him when I’m out of town. I’m lucky to have found you and have Chief as my boy. Happy Thanksgiving.

Carla,

No problem, John brought his whole family over Grandma and Aunt included and
Chief won their hearts immediately. The daughters loved him as well, the
little one was somewhat scared but after awhile she mustered up some courage
to pet him a bit. Turns out that his wife is Judge Marilyn Milan of People’s
Court on TV, it was so random when she came in to my house - she didn’t seem
to have a reaction to the dog hair. Anyway, Chief is doing good and he’s
55lbs now. However, his other testicle didn’t end up dropping so he will have
to get neutered sometime soon. I attached some photos for you.

Hey Carla

Sorry for the delay in responding, work is extremely busy lately. I will have more pictures of Chief as we take them. Chief’s temperament has been constant ever since I got him. He gets very excited when new people arrive and tends to give them a sniff down and is particularly fond of women. Chief seems to be really welcoming to kids and strangers, and if they take the time to hang out with Chief as the Sch—— kids, a bond builds rather quickly with Chief. However, I have seen kids taunt and want to play chase with Chief and basically Chief plays along but those kids just don’t know how to deal with dogs in general because they get scared when Chief finally does chase them. Around other dogs, he acts in the same energized manner and gets into a licking frenzy but doesn’t really dominant or submisses to any dog unless he knows them. Chief is primarily a calm, laid back dog - its just around new surroundings and people does he get really hyper and energized but calms down with familiarity.

I love the fact that Chief looks like a wolf, and often most people misinterpret Chief for a wolf. Ironically, in rare instances, I have seen Chief give a distinct wolf-like call unlike a howl. Everyone to include the Sch——— family seem to compliment on his looks, particularly his wolf-like mask on his face. I agree it is a shame that Chief, by Vet’s standards, is not best suited to procreate since he has been an absolutely great dog thus far. Around older dogs he is by far more smart, obedient and receptive. The only question I’m considering is Chief’s potential size, he is now 55 going on 60 lbs and he has already grown out his collar. He’s grown up so fast I wish he was still 18 lbs and able to hand carry. If you can make miniature Chief’s I’d be the first customer, ha! Anyway, I’ll keep you posted - he’s growing bigger and healthier - I’m going to have to do more walking/running with him. Hope this information helps.

I. V.’s Ohcumgauche, Gauche for short was born on April 6, 2008. He is the offspring of Zakai and Molly. Gauche was 1 of 8 puppies and was very reserved and was the most shy and timid one of the bunch but very sweet and loving. He has grown up to be so beautiful and his coloring is striking. He now resides in the state of Washington with his family.

Following are email’s sent from his new family:

June 12, 2008

Hi Carla,

Well “Gache’ short for Ohcumgache appears to have settled in pretty fast. Monday evening and most of Tuesday he seemed a bit lethargic but yesterday and today he is in fine form and full of energy.

He is so smart and has such a precious face that he makes everyone melt. He seems to have made a bond with my lab and we’re still working with him and my son’s 11 month old shepherd/Chow mix puppy (very Alpha) but overall he’s already part of the family.

Here are a couple of photos. We’ll keep you posted.

Carla,

Gache is doing great!!!! Typical cute, mischievous puppy but full of love and smiles….
Sorry about the photos. Let me try something & send you a mini version….
Thanks, Arlen

August 25, 2008

Hi there Carla,

We had a health scare last week (Bladder issues) but I think the Vet got him all better…
Here are a couple of photos of Gache at 4 months. As you can see he is developing into an amazingly striking dog. I can’t go anywhere without people stopping and asking questions about him…

Keep in touch…

August 25, 2008

Hi Carla,

He’s still a bit squirrely around new dogs & people but once he’s familiar w/ them he becomes pretty friendly.

Regarding his temperament he’s very playful w/ a strong prey drive (Of course my cat loves to egg him on) He has begun to display a bit more Alpha in his play; however the other dog’s tolerate him until they get annoyed then put him back in his place. He’s learned to sit & wait in front of his dish until given the command “Ok, eat” He allows me to handle him while he’s eating and so far I have not witnessed any unprovoked aggressiveness (Just playful barking or whining with other dogs during play).

He does have a stubborn side if I want him to come to me & he’s still exploring. I have to stomp my foot on the ground to gain his attention then he responds to my commands.

His coat has begun to grow a bit longer and softer except around the hindquarters. They seem to favor a Shepherds undercoat. The photo’s don’t show his coloring very well but he’s becoming more & more light tan around the back of his head and between ears, hips, backside of legs, & underside of tail.

All in all I believe Gache is a special dog that has limitless potential. You did a good job pairing his parents up. What are his siblings like? I did see one of his brothers has similar markings except Gache does have a predominate widows peak over his eyes and a striking mask on his face.

Keep in touch,
Thanks,
