ZAKAI ASHKII ELU
Zakai (Zah-Ki (long i sound) is our foundation stud and is the sire of both the June 2007 and April 2008 litters. He is a registered Native American Indian Dog from the Majestic View Kennels line. He is registered with the NKC, APRI and NAPDR. He has been DNA profiled and has been PennHip tested with scores below thirty on both hips.
Zakai’s temperament is very gentle and he is very laid-back. Even when he was young he was very accepting of my son’s energy. Zakai built a very strong bond with him and seemed to feel responsibe to watch out for him.
He is timid with those he doesn’t know but will usually warm up if given some time. This is not uncommon in the breed but it is also something I will be focusing on to see if it can be curbed or possibly eliminated all together. This of course, will take time. Although I don’t personally mind it since it offers me some peace of mind knowing that it would be hard for someone to steal him since he’s not going to let them get close enough to him to catch him. The drawback is he has used the “keep-away” tactic with me as well on occassion. Usually, socializing the pups when they are young and keeping them conditioned to the world around them and people can usually eliminate much if not all of the shyness. But none-the-less he is a great dog and I would be lost without him.

Noshi Machka (aka Ben)
This is Noshi Machk (pronounced - “know-she mahch-kah”). We call him Benjamin. He is Molly’s full brother and also carries the “blue” gene. His name comes from the Algonquin language and means “Father Bear”.
Ben is also one of Indian Valley Kennels’ foundation studs. He is a Native American Village Dog and is registered with the NAPDR. Ben is a gentle giant and is very sensitive to verbal commands. He has a desire to please and listens well. He is timid with strangers but is accepting of them once he realizes they’re okay. He is very smart and usually only needs to be told once and he remembers. I consider him kind of the “class clown”. He can be a bit goofey sometimes and is very vocal when he plays and tends to sound like he’s singing when he horses around with the other dogs. He tends to try to break up disagreements when he can but isn’t always successful. He has matured into a very sweet and loving boy and should produce some beautiful offspring.
His temperament is calm but active. He enjoys running around but will settle down when needed. He is timid with those he doesn’t know. He is sensitive and desires to make you happy so he tries very hard to do what you ask. He loves to be petted, kissed, brushed and loved on. If he passes on his size to his offspring they should make great pulling dogs for skijoring, sledding or weight pulling. His offspring should be representative of the common indian dogs and the plains-type of dogs.

NITA MAHALEY (AKA Molly)
This is Nita Mahaley, (pronounced: Nee-tah Mah-hah-lee). Her name comes from the Choctaw language and means “Bear Woman”. We call her Molly for short. Molly is one of our foundation females. She will provide offspring that will lean towards the plains and common indian dog. She is a beautiful girl with a very affectionate nature. Molly is registered as a Native American Village Dog with the NAPDR.
Molly has good structure and straight front and back legs Molly carries the “blue” color gene. Two of her siblings were blue and her mother had three blue siblings as well. We are hoping to bring in some of the blue into the IVK line.
Molly’s coloring has settled into black with white on her chest, legs and under body. There are also hints of blue. She has a medium long coat and should produce both long and short haired pups. She can be lery of strangers but is comfortable with children. She is very friendly and loves to be talked to, petted, brushed and loved on. Her first litter of pups were just gorgeous. She has been a very wonderful addition to our breeding program.
KACHINA INOLA (aka China)
Kachina Inola (pronounced: Kah-chee-nah E-no-lah) means Spirit of the Black Fox. Kachina comes from the Hopi Language and means “Spirit” and Inola comes from the Cherokee language and means “Black Fox”. China is a small sized black German Shepherd dog, with a very active personality which is attributed to her breeding and the need to have a job to do. She is of German and West German bloodlines and has many Schutzhund dogs in her pedigree. She will bring a good deal of working desire into her offspring for those who desire a more active and driven dog and one that should, hopefully, have more reliability off leash. Her offspring will carry the attributes of the Native American Indian Dog as well, which will bring in the wonderful laid back, loving and tender nature that I have found with my Native American Indian Dog Stud, Zakai, as well as good bone structure and beauty.
Her father is a White German Shepherd, who is of AKC lineage, and her mother is a Black German Shepherd, who is also of AKC lineage. I am hoping, since China is white factored on both her mother’s and father’s side, that I will have a chance of getting some pups with a good amount of white.
Colors possible will be: black, black/brown, tortoise shell, black/white, black/cream, black/silver and black/tan puppies.
